Domestic children support

As a Children Advocacy Organization, ChildFund Korea

creates a child-friendly environment and

supports the children to grow up happy and

to be respected based on children's rights.

Bokyoung (23 years old), a visually impaired, has a keen sense

of sound. She went to the National High School of

Traditional Arts as the first disabled student and studies

Korean classical music to become a Gayageum (Korean zither)

artist in Seoul National University.

We provide health and welfare services for children to

have optimal health and standard living necessary for child

development.

We support the disadvantaged children to develop their

talents and help them grow to become sound individuals

in the society by contributing their talents to a society.

We help children enjoy their own's rights and grow as the

next-generation citizen who leads change independently.

We have accepted proposals from community

organizations since 2016 to address social issues of

children and guide the children to participate in the

community along with local community organization.

We hold a "Thank you" letter contest to help children

to build good character and to promote generational

dialogue.

In response to the problems of violating children's rights,

we encourage policy change and improve awareness and

environments in order to protect, respect, and practice

children's rights.

Through the 'vote from the future' campaign, we help the voices of

children to be heard and reflected in the policy development

affect children's lives

Overseas children support

Based on UNCRC, ChildFund Korea supports

children of 27 countries around the world to protect,

realize and respect children's rights.

Through partnerships with the ChildFund Alliance and

local NGOs, we support children to grow

as rights holders and encourage stakeholders

to fulfill their roles.

Molvi's Bazar, the northern part of Bangladesh

with beautiful scenery full of green tea fields.

The children can go to kindergarten with the help

of ChildFund Korea, they have been learning to write

and living in a safe and comfortable environment.

We construct a child-friendly education environment with

caregivers, so that the children can fully enjoy the right to

education.

We support children around the world to grow up in a safe

environment protected from all forms of violence.

  • Enhancing the capacity to practice child protection in the local community
  • Teacher empowerment education (child-friendly teaching methods, etc.) and improving access to services
  • Strengthen Children's capacity for their own protection and participating in the decision-making process of local communities and governments

Children who are most vulnerable to disaster situations

can suffer significant physical and psychological damage.

We are working to protect children from disaster

situations.

  • Disaster risk reduction education and training for members of local communities such as children
  • Formation of village disaster risk reduction committee and strengthening of capacity
  • Village disaster risk vulnerability survey
  • Establishing village disaster response plan and early warning system, and conducting disaster evacuation drills
  • Establishing community disaster risk reduction cooperation system
  • Support to advocate for the enforcement of local or central government laws and regulations related to disaster risk reduction
  • Support livelihood activities for the vulnerable related to climate

Child welfare research

The Research Institute of Child Welfare, which was

established as the first NGO for children in Korea,

conducts professional research and leads social issues

related to children.

The life of Jiwon (not his real name), a fourth-grader

in elementary school, has changed a lot due to COVID19.

He stayed at home most of time,

and spent most of his time watching TV

or playing computer game.

We created the 'Children's Happiness Life Index',

which examines happiness through

children's daily lives found that there is

correlation between change in children's lives

and their happiness.

We conduct a variety of research on children to practice

evidence-based child welfare program.

The Child Welfare Forum is held to discuss issues

necessary to promote children's happiness with the

government, academia, field experts, and general citizens.

First published in 1957, "Dong Gwang", a Child welfare

research journal, communicates with the academia and

community through the contributions of experts on the

subject of timely child issues.

By discovering and supporting competent rising

researchers in the field of children, we raise social

interest in children and prepare evidence for advocating

for children.
